The Tennessee Walking horse is the result of combining different breeds, the Narangasett Pacer, the Saddlebred, the Morgan and champions of the Thoroughbred breed that were shipped to the US from England. The Tennessee Walking Horse is a horse for all reasons. It was the sturdy horse that pulled the plow, the reliable horse that carried the children to school, the mistress of the house to the market and the master on his rounds managing his small farm or large plantation. In Tennessee they carried the master and the overseers on their daily rounds.
When these horses came to Alberta they were used to train the field trial dogs. Southern Alberta was the beginning point and the horses soon miagrated to all parts of Alberta and then all parts of Canada.
It is the ride of a lifetime!
